Pricing — what to expect
European routes price by volume and final destination. Indicative ranges: 20ft FCL to Western Europe RM 24,000-32,000. 40ft FCL RM 35,000-45,000. Eastern European destinations slightly higher due to inland distance. LCL and groupage available for shipments under 15 cbm at significantly lower cost. We quote inclusive of port-to-door delivery — no separate "inland delivery" charge.
Insurance and risk
All Risk transit insurance via Berjaya Insurance Berhad covers the full route from Malaysian packing through European delivery. Coverage based on declared value. For high-value items typical in expat European moves (artwork, antiques, fine furniture, wine collections), separate valuations and specialist cover can be arranged.
EU customs — country-specific notes
Germany: household effects for incoming residents qualify under Übersiedlungsgut (personal-effects import relief). ZOLL documentation handled through our Hamburg and Rotterdam partner agents. Strong corporate route for engineering, automotive, and pharma sector professionals.
Netherlands: significant connection to Malaysia through Shell, Unilever, and Dutch multinational offices. Dutch customs relief (vrijstelling) for incoming residents is well-documented; Amsterdam, The Hague, and Eindhoven are our most common Dutch destinations.
France: duty-free household-effects import for incoming residents who've lived outside France for 12+ months. Documentation submitted to French customs via our Antwerp partner. Paris and Lyon are most common.
Switzerland: non-EU but routed via the same ports. Swiss BAZG customs runs its own personal-effects relief (Übersiedlungsgut) separately from EU rules. Our Zurich, Geneva, and Basel partner agents handle this regularly — Switzerland is one of our more active European routes given its concentration of financial services and pharmaceutical employers.
European moving seasons — timing your shipment
Summer (June-August) is Europe's peak relocation period — school-year timing drives family moves, academic-year timing drives professionals in education and research. Port congestion at Rotterdam and Hamburg is measurably higher in July-September, and inland delivery scheduling competes with higher carrier demand across the continent. If you're moving to Germany, Netherlands, or France for a September start date, book your survey by April-May and target a June-July vessel departure. Leaving the survey until August for a September move is the single most common planning mistake on the Europe route — vessel slots and delivery crew availability tighten sharply in the peak window.
