Founded with a deliberate decision to do fewer moves well rather than chase market share. That choice set the culture.
Our History
Florette Relocation has been handling domestic and international moves from Kuala Lumpur since 2016. This is the story of how a small KL Sentral team grew into a company that has completed 1,000+ moves across 14 countries — without changing the founding brief.
Started in 2016 with one clear brief
Florette Relocation was founded in Kuala Lumpur in 2016. The team started small — a handful of coordinators and field staff based at KL Sentral — with a brief that has not changed: do fewer moves and do them well.
The Malaysian moving market in 2016 was busy and fragmented. Most operators competed on price and volume. Florette chose a different model from the start — one that prioritised written quotes, named accountability, and a consistent packing standard across every job, domestic or international.
That founding choice shaped every decision that followed. When the bonded warehouse opened in 2018 it was built to a professional standard, not a minimum viable one. When the company restructured in 2020 it doubled down on the single-PM model rather than automating enquiries or adding sales layers. The brief has not changed because the results have not required it to.
10,000 sq ft in Klang, built to professional standards with 24/7 CCTV, fire suppression and chain-of-custody access.
Restructured around a single named project manager model. No handoffs between departments once a move is confirmed.
The single-PM model: why it exists and what it changed
Most moving companies hand a client between sales, operations, and customer service. By 2020 Florette had seen enough of what that model costs clients to do something about it.
One accountable person
From the first survey to the last box delivered, one named project manager owns the engagement. Clients do not re-explain their situation at each stage.
Written, itemised quotes
Every move is quoted in writing with a line-by-line breakdown. The PM who scoped the move is also the one who defends the quote if anything changes.
Framework agreements
Corporate HR teams running recurring moves get locked pricing and a dedicated PM across the contract period. No re-quoting every time an employee relocates.
Weekly status reports
On corporate and group engagements, the PM sends structured weekly updates. HR teams can report back to leadership without chasing the moving company for information.
Florette Relocation: a timeline from 2016
Each milestone reflects a deliberate operational choice — not a reaction to market pressure, but a decision about what kind of company Florette should be.
Group moves and Fortune-500 clients
By 2022, Florette had run a 25-employee group relocation for Biocon Malaysia and a 12-employee move for Reliance Malaysia within the same calendar year. Both were managed by a single project manager, with weekly status reports and locked framework pricing throughout.
Those moves demonstrated something the team had always believed but needed the scale to prove: the single-PM model works just as well on a 25-person group as it does on a single-bedroom studio. The complexity is higher, the documentation is heavier, but the accountability structure stays exactly the same.
Today Florette works with 25+ Fortune-500 corporate clients and handles diplomatic and embassy moves alongside individual expat families. The same written quote, same PM, same Berjaya Insurance Berhad All Risk cover applies to every engagement regardless of size.
